Why apply early decision?

Less waiting.

If URochester is your top choice, why wait to apply? ED I applicants hear back by mid-December. ED II applicants hear back by early February.

Extra perks.

Applying early gives you the opportunity for priority choice of housing assignment and move-in date, and the potential to register for classes sooner.

ED I vs. ED II: What’s the difference? 

I’m ready to apply now

ED I is a great option if you’re ready to apply now.

I’m almost ready

ED II gives you a little more time while still getting your admission decision earlier than regular decision.

Both early decision options are binding which means if you’re admitted, you’re committing to URochester.

Early decision and financial aid 

Applying early decision doesn’t mean missing out on financial clarity. You’ll get the same aid consideration as any applicant, and you’ll receive your package even sooner.

  • Submit the FAFSA (code: 002894) and CSS Profile (code: 2928) by December 1. 
  • Your financial aid package will arrive shortly after your admissions decision, typically within 5–10 business days.

  • Or by January 5 for Early Decision II
