Get to know us better
Dive into life on campus and experience what it means to be a Yellowjacket.
If you have questions about submitting your enrollment deposit online, please email us admit@admissions.rochester.edu for assistance.
An $800 enrollment deposit is due May 1 for regular decision students.
Please be advised that while checks are still an option for submitting your enrollment deposit, it is recommended that students pay their deposit electronically through the link found on your electronic decision letter.
Since transfers and spring students are admitted on a rolling basis, the $800 enrollment deposit due date will be enclosed on your admit letter in your MyROC account. The enrolling student packet is sent out on a weekly basis starting in mid-May for transfer students and early November for all spring students.
What will your first day on campus look like?

University of Rochester’s River Campus rarely slows down. From your first days on campus to the day you take on the title of alum, your calendar will be full of on-campus events, networking opportunities, and school spirit.
You’re sure to find a tradition to fill that special place in your heart. Maybe it’ll be Mel Weekend in the fall, the carnival rides during Dandelion Day, or Boar’s Head Dinner during senior year.
You’ll get involved in all aspects of campus life and easily find a home here at URochester. In fact, most students love it here so much that they decide to live on campus all four years. You’ll find some of your closest friends in your residence halls, classes, or one of our 250+ student organizations.

Got questions for your admissions counselor?
Aside from its proximity to classes, the library, and University events, on-campus housing gives you the chance to meet others and participate in school-sponsored activities.
Home away from home
Incoming first-years are required to live on campus and can choose between Susan B. Anthony Halls, Genesee Hall, and the Residence Quad, comprising Gilbert, Hoeing, Lovejoy, and Tiernan Halls. First-years are housed together, and most will share a double room with another first-year student. However, there are a limited number of single rooms and some triple rooms for first-year students.
Housing options
Transfer students have the option of living in either on-campus or off-campus housing. On-campus housing is very popular, so we can’t always accommodate every transfer student who wants to live on campus. Students who live off campus can choose apartments or shared homes in student-friendly Rochester neighborhoods. Residential Life’s off-campus housing search can help you find the best option for you.
The Flower City
What makes Rochester, New York, special?
Encompassing the Genesee River and six waterfalls, the city of Rochester is a midsize urban center surrounded by easygoing suburbs. Our cultural gems include the Memorial Art Gallery, Eastman Theatre, George Eastman Museum, and multiple professional sports venues. Plus, you’ll have easy access to Lake Ontario beaches, Erie Canal recreation, and a vast greenbelt of gardens, parks, and summer festivals.
A closer look
Rochester fostered the motion picture film industry, abolition, and the women’s rights movement. Today, Rochester’s entrepreneurial economy—which is home to Wegmans and AIM Photonics—includes thousands of specialized firms in fields like optics and health.
