Orientation 2011!!

THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME!! How long have I been talking about this? Read my past blogs. They date back to January. That isn’t even covering the whole span of time. Guys, we are college students now. We are all moved in, used to campus, have new friends already, and those numbers are growing every day. College life is basically awesome. We have all the freedom (except the mandatory Orientation stuff) and pretty much no rules. As I write this, it is 9:00 pm and I am watching the VMAs with my floor (T4 doin’ big thangs!). This is only the start. We have all year.

Move-in day was crazy. I didn’t sleep the night before, but I managed to stay up the whole day. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It was also awesome to finally meet people in person for the first time and not just on Facebook. Getting to know my floor has been so cool, and I love my RAs, D’Lions, and Freshman Fellows. Of course, the freshman class is huge, so meeting people from other residence halls has been really cool too. I still am not the best at names, but I am getting there! Lots of people are unforgettable, and I can already tell who I am going to see throughout the year very often.

It has been great to get to know more about how this year will work out, between our different majors, interests, and classes. I am excited for this semester, and really for the next four years. Being a music major has worked out for me well. I am still doing the pre-med track, but music is going to be a nice balance. It will help me relax and balance my life. It is interesting to see everyone else’s schedules as well. There is so much diversity between everyone’s schedules, majors, and classes. It is so cool to see what everyone is doing. The diversity does not stop there, though.

One night, there was a concert of all the different diverse groups on campus. From Indian dances to modern hip-hop, there is a place for everyone. The concert was so amazing, and I will never forget it. I have met people from Ecuador, China, and tons of states in the U.S. The diversity you will find here is endless. There is always someone new to meet, and always something new to learn about those people you have met.

The Orientation staff has been absolutely amazing and has done so much for us. On top of getting tons of free stuff, the activities have been great and so much fun. I know I will never forget this time, and I can only thank all of the current students and staff who have helped make it that way.

There has been too much happening here to list everything. All in all though, this has been a great time to get used to campus life, explore, and get all the last-minute stuff we need to start our academic year. Many of us have also been attending auditions for ensembles, interest meetings, and club sports meetings. Even after classes have started, there will be so much more for us to attend and check out.

Well, this is my last blog as a high schooler/graduate. I started in January, and have stuck with this blogging thing up to now in August. But don’t worry, I will be continuing this. I love it, and I love talking about this amazing school! Thanks all for reading, and make sure you keep checking out my future blogs, and keep an eye out for new bloggers who our amazing admin, Valerie Roy, will be hiring!

Before, I spoke from word of mouth, and from a few visits, but now, I can say firsthand that URoc is THE BEST college, has THE BEST life for its students, and has THE VERY BEST Class of 2015 in the world!
