My name is Jason Buitrago, and I’m one of the assistant directors in the Financial Aid Office at the University of Rochester. I’m also a UR alumnus, a city resident, a counselor, a graduate student, and an avid fan of pretty much anything on Bravo TV. I hail from the land of Brooklyn—born and raised—and ventured to the land of upstate NY in 2003 to attend the University. As an undergraduate student, I found myself involved in several extracurriculars…you know…for fun: Campus Times editor, President of the Senior Class, Resident Advisor, Admissions Tour Guide (Meridian), Financial Aid Work Study Student.
After graduating with a degree in math, and completely falling in love with higher education and student affairs, I decided to stay local and directly contribute to UR by making it possible for students to finance their college careers. I would not have been able to do it without my own financial aid package, and thus it makes complete sense for me to make it possible for others.
