One of my favorite things about being a student at the University of Rochester is that you really do not need to have a car on campus at all during your four years of undergraduate studies. Rochester allows students to use the Shuttle Service. The University has a variety of bus lines that take students to a variety of places including a local mall, Wegmans, the Eastman School of Music, Riverview Apartments, the 19th ward, and select locations inside Downtown Rochester. With such a large selection to pick from, it's no wonder students do not need cars while they live on campus!
I remember riding a bus my freshmen year with a group of my hall mates as we went to Walmart for some basic shopping. We got there at 10:00 and were back by 11:00. The thing about the buses is that they firstly circulate very often, approximately every half hour, but also, if you have a smart phone, you can live-track exactly where the various buses are and when the next one is coming to your stop. Our top private university continues to provide students the resources they need to adjust to college life and live conveniently on our beautiful campus. The buses are also extremely safe because you have to swipe your University ID before getting on.
The buses are an extremely convenient opportunity for Rochester students, and I encourage you to ask about them during your visits to the University of Rochester!
