UR Soccer Blogger Griffin Drake

Hi, my name is Griffin Drake.  I am a sophomore at the University of Rochester River Campus, class of 2015. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, where I attended Pike High School. I have played soccer all of my life. Back home, I played varsity soccer at Pike and played my club soccer at Carmel United. Here at Rochester, I play forward for the varsity men's soccer team.

Back home, I have two older brothers. Because of this, I am a huge sports fan. When it comes to professional sports, I love the Indiana Pacers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the New England Patriots.

At UR, I am double majoring in political science and philosophy with a possible cluster in statistics and economics. When I'm not playing soccer or studying, I am a tour guide for the admissions office. Also, I and my teams volunteer as mentors at a local elementary school. I am also working on getting involved in some undergraduate research in the political science department. Being from the Midwest, I didn't exactly know what I was getting myself in to coming to a college in the Northeast, but it has turned out great.

My blog will most likely be all about the random, interesting, and exciting things going on with the UR men's soccer team here, and what it is like to be a student athlete at UR. I hope you enjoy. Thanks!
