I think Sunday is my new favorite day of the week. I know it’s not as exciting as Friday or Saturday, but I love the chill atmosphere. Last weekend featured the perfect Sunday. I didn’t set my alarm Saturday night (the only day of the week that happens!), slept until 11, and then spent the next half hour laying in bed just thinking, texting my friends, and snuggling under all my fuzzy blankets. When I finally emerged from my room, I met up with some of my hallmates to talk about what we had done the night before, mostly laughing about everyone’s ridiculous Halloween costumes (to give you an idea, one of my friends went as an asteroid belt), and to compare plans for the day. That’s another thing I love about college and specifically the special interest floor I live on, Inter-Class Living Community—when else will you get to live next door to 17 of your friends? Anyways, after that I went to Starbucks to get my daily iced Pumpkin Spice Latte (they’re addicting; it’s a problem for my meal plan) and then to the library to do homework. Even schoolwork seems more relaxed on Sundays—the rest of the week feels miles away, so I never feel as rushed or stressed as I do on weeknights.
In the evening I was busier: I had four meetings! First I met up with some people from my linguistics class to talk about a project we’re working on together, and then I had hall council (which is similar to student council in high school, but for dorms). We’re starting to organize a holiday gift donation for local kids; it’s crazy to think we’re getting that close to winter! After that, I had a short break to grab dinner in the Pit before all of my ICLC stuff for the night. We have weekly meetings, which I really enjoy because it’s a set time for us all to be together as a group, and I love planning events and discussing ideas. Today we spent most of our time talking about our “Big Fall Event”—we’re having a viral video themed party with three live student bands, so we’re super excited but also super busy planning everything! I’m on the Big Fall Event sub-committee, which met after the general ICLC meeting to talk about logistics such as food and decorations. I love eating and making crafts, so it’s pretty much the perfect role for me. I also love feeling really involved in ICLC—it’s great to be able to work towards a non-academic goal, especially when the end result will be a fun party! That night, I found myself still awake at 2 am, writing in bed. I guess I just didn’t want Sunday to end!
