Spring Break in Boston!

This spring break, I decided not to go back home to California, but instead travel to Boston for the week. I stayed at a friend’s house and took the bus over. One thing I love about the east coast is that it is so easy to travel from one city to the next. Going from Rochester to Boston, I could take a plane, train, or bus—all at affordable prices!

I absolutely loved sightseeing on my break. On our first day, we traveled to MIT and Harvard, and toured around the Cambridge area. I loved seeing such a historic area, and it was pretty cool seeing the statue of John Harvard. The Social Network is my absolute, all-time favorite movie. Afterwards, we took the train back to my friend’s home, and spent the night watching movies and eating junk food. Being on campus all the time certainly can be stressful, between classes and keeping grades up, so having a chance to eat chips and dip all night long was amazing!

The next day, we decided to explore the actual city of Boston. We started off with lunch at Quincy Market. In California, there really is no place like this market. It was very vegetarian friendly and had a lot of unique options to pick from! Right after, we went to Little Italy; I love Italian food, so this was perfect for me. To be honest, back home, I really haven’t explored any of the cultural neighborhoods around Los Angeles, so seeing something that felt authentic was really cool. We followed lunch up with cannoli from the famous Mike’s Pastries.

For the rest of break, we played Wii, watched movies and TV, and just relaxed.

I could share stories upon stories of all the fun stuff I did over break, but I just wanted to really emphasize the importance of taking breaks and keeping yourself happy and healthy. Yes, college is tough and your study habits need to be top notch; however, you can still have fun. We have a beautiful university campus, but we also have a beautiful region as well.

I’m so happy I had such a great experience, and I encourage you all to explore all that is around us!
