So… Now What?

After countless hours researching programs, writing essays, and filling out applications: you did it, you applied to college. Firstly, congratulations! This is no small feat, so give yourself a moment to feel rightfully proud. Making it through this undertaking is an accomplishment in and of itself.

While some may exhale a sigh of relief now that all your hard work is done, you might be asking yourself: “So… Now what?” As tempting as it is to constantly refresh your email waiting for an admissions decision, you have bigger and better things to do.

After taking some time to reset, make sure that all extra materials are submitted, such as your Financial Aid documents. It’s super important that these get in on time, so be sure to do it sooner rather than later. If you have any questions, reach out to the Financial Aid Office, they are happy to help guide you through the process.

Keep connecting with admissions and current students. If you have questions about campus culture, Rochester in general or anything else, now is a great time to reach out. The Office of Admissions can connect you to a student with similar interests, so you can get the perspective of a current student. You can also look into some of the different clubs and activities available on campus! The CCC page is a great resource to explore all the student organizations that Rochester has to offer.

If you are able, come visit campus and take a tour! There are so many amazing Meridians (our fancy word for tour guides) who can’t wait to meet you and tell you all about how they made Rochester their home. You can register for a campus tour here. The world is a wild place right now so if you can’t make it in person, we also have lots of virtual opportunities as well, such as info sessions as well as a virtual tour of our campus. These online options are just as informative as the in-person tours and can provide a lot of insight into campus life.

Most importantly: enjoy your senior year and keep doing what you love! Now is the time to finish the year strong. Keep up with your schoolwork, stay involved with the things you’re passionate about, and spend time with the people you care about.  The fall will be here before you know it, so enjoy this time, you’ve earned it!

Lastly, remember that no matter what the decision is, it doesn’t define who you are. Be proud of the work you’ve put in and look forward to finding a place to call home for the next four years. Wishing you all the best of luck!!
