Shave to Save 2012

As an alumnus and an admissions counselor, I like to stay connected with student life. It makes my job much easier to be able to tell students about the day-to-day life of your typical UR student. I can learn a lot from our tour guides, who tell me about their other involvements on campus and what they spend their time doing. Sometimes, this will lead me to seeing a great concert, or hearing an interesting speaker, but this week, it lead me someplace I didn't expect.

One of our tour guides is involved in Colleges Against Cancer and I learned that the organization was hosting a fundraiser on campus, called "Shave to Save." This event has participants raising funds (for the American Cancer Society) to shave their heads, or if it is long enough, donate their hair to the charity. I decided that I would represent the Admissions Office, and collected donations from some folks. It was a great cause, and I needed a haircut anyways, so here are the results:
