Rochester’s Pre-College Programs were the Highlights of my Summer!

Today's guest blog post is by Jaclyn Capita, a member of the incoming Class of 2018. She attended Rochester's Pre-College Programs four years in a row, participating in the Rochester Scholars (2010, 2011, 2012) and Mini Med School (2013).

I have been participating in Rochester’s Pre-College Programs since I was a freshman and I have to say, it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made. My favorite part of the Pre-College Programs has always been the diversity that these programs bring. People from all over the United States and even from overseas come to Rochester. Meeting new people is really neat and it creates a lot of strong, long-lasting friendships.

Through participating in this program, I gained valuable skills that made me more curious, collaborative, sociable, and open-minded. The people, the environment, and the knowledge all really inspires you to learn more and to do more. I recommend this to any student who wants to experience something new and fun over the summer, who wishes to experience a little taste of the profession they are interested in, or who just want to get the feel of a college campus! The Pre-College Programs at the University of Rochester were not only astounding but also were the highlights of my summer!
