O Canada: Traveling to Niagara Falls

Fun Fact #1: The University of Rochester is about an hour and a half away from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.

Fun Fact #2: The University of Rochester had no school on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Fun Fact #3: I'm sure by this point you've guessed I went to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. (Freshman pro-tip: Make friends with people who have cars!)

As you can see by the ice-coated plants, it was wicked cold out. It started snowing about fifteen minutes after we got there, so after thoroughly freezing ourselves, we explored the gift shop and went to Canadian outlets. C'est la vie. We were also using a phone as a GPS and it made us leave through a different border station, which was a little strange, so maybe if you go there, have an actual map. Also, the border people are really friendly.

I've always wanted to go to Niagara Falls, and when I decided to attend the University of Rochester, I knew I'd be in an excellent position to do so. Of course, crossing the border takes a bit of planning (e.g., getting a passport) and a mode of transportation. If you think you might want to go to Canada or take advantage of the excellent study abroad options at Rochester, then I suggest you try to get your passport sometime this summer. Of course, if you don't have a passport, the University will help you with the process of obtaining one; it's just easier to already have it.

I've already used my passport to visit Canada. Where will yoURs take you?
