My Latest UR Discovery

Even though it’s my last semester at Rochester, I still feel like I’m discovering new things about the school all the time. For example, I first heard about the Dining Services Dining Committee Meetings about two months ago. My friend invited me to go, and at first I was completely ready to say noI sit through classes and meetings all day, so why would I go to another meeting during my time off? Then I heard the two magical words every college student loves to hear: free food. I was sold.

Every month, Dining Services holds open meetings in the Meliora restaurant. In addition to free food (the first time I went I got soup and chili, the second time was baked potatoes), they talk about fun and important food- and dining hall-related news. The structure of the meal plans is changing slightly next year, so I got to hear all about why and how that was happening. There was also a question and answer period when students had the opportunity to voice their concerns and questions. I think it’s really cool that the administration has the chance to talk to students so directly via these meetings.

At this month’s meeting, they also discussed fun menu changes, hours for the rest of the semester, and incentives for adding more declining (meal plan) dollars during the month of April. Just by going to the meeting, you’re also entered into a raffle to win cool prizes! And I mean, free dinner. What’s not to love? I’ll be back next month!
