Hello!
My name is YooJung, and I'm a freshman interested in majoring in film and media studies. I was born in Seoul, South Korea, and lived there for a while before moving to Chicago. I consider both cities my home and love each one's unique wonders; Chicago and its deep-dish pizza, the Art Institute, and the magical view from the top of the Willis Tower (which I still call the Sears Tower), and Seoul with its bustling streets at three in the morning, crazy street food, and cat cafés (enough said).
Besides being a student blogger, I'm also the Publicity Chair for KASA (Korean American Student Association), a member of LOGOS (student-produced art and literature magazine), and a tutor for PIR (Partners in Reading).
Here is a list of things about me that hopefully makes me seem more like a human being and less like a jumble of words.
- I am an absolute coffee lover. Keurig is my best friend.
- I am an Aquarius, a boar, and I have blood type AB. Most Koreans believe that your blood type says a lot about your personality.
- I have the entire Hannah Montana 1 and 2 albums on iTunes, and I like to listen to "Rockstar" as I get ready in the morning. It's wonderful.
- I recently renewed my Netflix subscription (bad decision), and I am now addicted to House of Cards. Some of my other favorite shows are Orange is the New Black and Malcolm in the Middle.
- Music is a very important part of my life. I've been playing piano for almost thirteen years, and one of my favorite ways to waste time is creating playlists of songs for different occasions. For example, I have a playlist called "When I'm Not Really Doing Anything But Should Actually Be Doing Stuff."
- My dream is to someday work at Starbucks, make the best coffee anyone has ever tasted, become a famous barista, accomplish all of this in a month, and then leave. I'll be a Starbucks legend.
When I was a senior in high school, I was so stressed out about college and its application process. People who truly helped me during this time were bloggers who wrote about their own struggles and experiences. It was comforting to know that I was not the only one confused and feeling lost. As a student blogger for the University of Rochester, I want to be the same source of comfort and help to others.
I'm so excited!! (:
