Meet Our 2014 Pre-College Counseling Staff

Written by Ellie Law, Graduate Head Counselor, Pre-College Programs

In just over a month, Pre-College Programs 2014 will be underway! As Graduate Head Counselor for this summer, I am looking forward to meeting all of the summer students and introducing them to our 15 amazing Pre-College Counselors.

The counselors this summer are a fantastic reflection of the students who attend the University of Rochester. They are current students who have made their way to Rochester from cities all over the world! For some of them, this will be their first summer in Rochester, while others are returning as staff members after having attended the program when they were in high school. No matter their familiarity with Pre-College Programs, each of the counselors has found a meaningful place within the University of Rochester environment and they are excited to share a piece of their college experience with the Pre-College students they will meet.

As a team, the Pre-College Counselors will plan and lead activities that enhance the experiences of everyone attending the program. Their goal is to offer you the opportunity to explore new and old interests that can then be revisited as you transition into your own college years. So before you arrive, I encourage you to take some time to read a little about the counselors. You may be surprised by the similarities and differences between yourself and them. If you bring questions and curiosities, there will be plenty of new things to explore.

The challenge for you this summer is to try new things and meet new people! Just like the counselors, the students attending Pre-College Programs come from cities near and far. They also bring a wide variety of skills and interests, and by getting to know one another, you can enhance your summer experience and adopt new things that you are passionate about.
