Legos, food safety, and some awesome costumes

This past Sunday, the University of Rochester’s Office of Admissions, along with other community partners, hosted the 7th annual FIRST® LEGO® League Championship Tournament. 36 teams from the Greater Finger Lakes Region, including Buffalo, Southern Tier, and Corning, advanced from over 130 teams competing in 8 Qualifying Tournaments. These teams of 9- to 14-year-olds researched food safety issues over 8 weeks and built a robot to perform in the robot game. Teams are judged on robot performance, presentations, research, and teamwork ability. Our Champion’s Award winner is headed to St. Louis, MO, to compete in April 2012 at the FIRST® World Festival.
