‘Learn, Discover, Heal, Create’ at Strong Memorial Hospital

There is a lot I could say to update you on my nursing school experience thus far. However, what I have enjoyed most has been my clinical experiences at the University of Rochester's Medical Center; Strong Memorial Hospital. As you may know, Strong is a "teaching hospital." The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and School of Nursing spend a great deal of time learning at different sites throughout the hospital. Students from other local colleges also practice there.

The staff at Strong goes above and beyond to incorporate students into their team-based care. We have the opportunity to round with the patient care team, administer medications to our patients and provide other patient-specific interventions. There are many undergraduate students as well who have found opportunities to shadow various medical professionals at Strong Memorial Hospital. Other opportunities for undergraduates include working as a scribe in the emergency department or volunteering on various floors with a program called Friends of Strong. Students, like myself, may also choose to volunteer in Pediatrics with the team of Child Life specialists. There are also countless opportunities at our medical research university for undergraduate research.

There is a role for everyone at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Whether it's the Dual-Degree Nursing program, Pediatric volunteer or Medical student, find the opportunity that's right for you!
