Traveling around the country is a big part of the admissions world. As I've mentioned before, I serve as the Midwest regional representative, based in Chicago. The title implies that I'm responsible for the majority of the midwestern United States. In reality, I help lead a team of individuals who cover a huge territory ranging from Nebraska and the Dakotas in the west, Arkansas and Tennessee in the south, and West Virginia and Ohio in the east. It's a bit larger than what is typically considered the Midwest, but I'm happy to be able to work with such a diverse population. I think it's important that I introduce my team, so you have an idea of who you might be meeting on the road.

"I am beginning my tenth year at the University of Rochester and my fourth year recruiting in the Midwest. I have enjoyed meeting the talented students in the area and sampling local cuisine in between school visits. I enjoy spending time with my wife and two sons as well as watching and playing a variety of sports. I am excited to once again travel back to the Midwest this fall and share the great opportunities that the University of Rochester has to offer!"
"Almost every day during travel season, I wake up somewhere new. I start a new adventure in a new place. I visit high schools, host high school counselor breakfasts, and interview young people from all over the country and the world. I meet students with so many diverse thoughts and cultural backgrounds, and they will enrich our campus (and without even knowing it, they have enhanced my life so much as well). Every day, I have an opportunity to tell potential students what makes Rochester such an amazing place to come and spend four or more years. To walk the halls of our campus, to sit and share a meal with these amazing young people, truly is a remarkable experience. Hopefully, if you are reading this blog, you will come to the University and see what I am talking about, and someday soon I will get to meet you too."
"Howdy. My territories include Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and the Zhejiang province in China. I am a Rochester native and an alumnus of the University, where I studied English and worked for our student-run radio station, WRUR. In my spare time, I enjoy going to concerts and watching meaningless sporting events."
So we have a great group whom you might run into this fall. If you are from any of the states we travel to, and you want to reach out, don't hesitate to do so!
