Hello and welcome back to the financial aid blog! We’re excited to have all the students back on campus in a few short weeks! We’re also pretty stoked to have recently launched a new website to streamline all things student employment. It’s called FAJobLink, and it allows you to search and apply for jobs, confirm if you have an I-9 on file, and review how much federal work study eligibility you have to use—all online! It’s a great resource, but you may have some questions before you start using it. Let me answer some for you here:
-
How do I log in to FAJobLink?
You can access FAJobLink via BlackBoard. Once you log in with your Net ID and password, you can find FAJobLink on the left-hand side of the page, under ‘Student Links.’
-
Where do I check to see if I have an I-9 on file?
When you log in to FAJobLink, go to ‘My Account’ and ‘My Profile.’ If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you can view a section titled ‘I-9 completed?’ All students must have an I-9 completed before working at Rochester.
-
What if I don’t have an I-9 file?
If you don’t have an I-9 on file, the field in FAJobLink will be blank, which means you’ll need to complete one—but don’t worry, it’s easy! First, you’ll complete Part I. When you fill out your information, make sure to use 11968 as our employer code, and 100000-Student Workers for the employer location—if you don’t, we won’t be able to see it when you come in to our office to complete Part II!
Speaking of Part II, don’t forget your required documents! Once you’ve completed Part I, you’ll be provided with a list of documents we can use to complete your I-9. You’ll need to come in to our office (call 585.275.3226 to schedule an appointment) and if you don’t have your required documents (originals only—no photocopies!), we’ll have to turn you away and reschedule your appointment. And then we’ll be sad. Don’t do that.
Once both parts of the I-9 are successfully completed, you’re able to work on campus!
-
Where can I check on my work study?
In the same place you saw your I-9 status: 'My Account,' then 'My Profile,' then scroll to the bottom. It’s on the right, and you can view your federal work study (FWS) awarded and remaining.
-
How important is my profile?
Your profile is extremely important. As a matter of fact, it serves as your job application! When you apply to a job, you are submitting your profile to a potential employer, so make sure all your information is up to date. We can’t stress this enough—update, update, update!

What if I can’t figure out how to do something?
We have fantastic video tutorials available that will answer many of your questions! There is also a helpful Student User Manual available in the Resource Library in FAJobLink.
See? It’s easy! FAJobLink makes searching and applying for on campus jobs simple. If you have any questions, you’re of course welcome to contact us via phone, email, Facebook, or Twitter! We’re here. Or stop by our office to pick up one of these cool FAJobLink pens!
Good luck with your job search!
