Hurricane Sandy Hasn’t Put a Gloom Over Rochester’s Beautiful Campus

Hurricane Sandy's impromptu arrival may have overshadowed the thought of the beautiful fall season from most people's minds. And rightly so. My first experience of a hurricane was indeed terrifying. When it arrived in Rochester, the wind was howling outside, blowing away leaves left, right, and centre, and everyone huddled together nervously away from the cold rain. Little can I imagine the damage in worse-hit areas on the east coast. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Stay safe and be strong, because better times will always lie ahead this rocky path.

But fall isn't over yet! And the resilient still stand strong! The beautiful University of Rochester campus transforms into a wonderland during every fall season, and occasional warm, summer-like days add to the charm. For someone who hasn't lived in a climate that actually has four different seasons, it can be quite an experience. Funnily, my best experience of fall is watching the squirrels and chipmunks running about on campus, collecting their acorns under the hoards of orange and red leaves. But be careful, they tend to pop out of nowhere and run for it when they see you, causing quite a scare!
