Greetings collegebound Earthlings!
I’m the Regional Associate Director of Admissions for the New York Metropolitan Area and my business cards are consequently as big as a license plate! Yes it’s a mouthful, but it’s as big as the job I love to do: meet with families in Westchester County, Long Island and other parts of NYC’s outer rings and spread the good word about one of the best private universities in America, the University of Rochester. From my Harlem HQ I set out across the area from Sleepy Hollow to Sayville in a Zipcar, MetroNorth, LIRR, subway, whatever it takes to get to each of you and answer your burning questions about research, our flexible curriculum, or student life at Rochester.
I’m also likely to encourage you to visit campus! We’re 6 lovely car-drivin’ hours away from Manhattan, and we’re only one full episode of “Real Housewives of Miami” away on JetBlue! I hope you’ll make a trip up to campus to see it for yourself.
Students and parents alike regularly report having had mind-changing experiences during their visits, thanks in no small part to our excellent tour guides, The Meridian Society. Sure, they love their school and we pay them to tell you why, but these students don’t represent some diabolical, reeducated segment of our undergraduates, fitted with electric ankle bracelets that shock them when they say something untoward about the University (and I don’t think we pay them enough to lie). In fact, we are proud to report a 95% freshman retention rate which speaks to the fact that they, along with the rest of us, work hard to be as transparent as possible when it comes to the kind of experience you could have at the U of R. So head on up and check us out. You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll apply!
And keep your eyes tuned to this page for information pertinent to those from the New York Metro Area. I look forward to meeting each of you soon!
