Get Ready for Snow, Incoming Yellowjackets!!

My school district recently had two snow days within two weeks. This is a big deal, because Greece Central RARELY closes. We have been known to go to school with feet upon FEET of snow before. The first snow day was really more of a “cold day”; school was cancelled because temperatures were in the negatives, and it was deemed “unsafe” for walkers. The second was really an accident, I think. We had been on a Severe Storm Watch for 28 hours. Rochester gets a lot of those, but very few storms. Of course, the school district got nervous and closed school, but the funny thing is that we never got a storm! I bet those superintendents were beating themselves up afterwards. But I am not complaining! I got to use the day to catch up on very much needed sleep and do all my homework. Plus I went sledding with some of my friends! So it was a very successful day for me.

Even though the anticipated storm never hit, we did get a decent amount of snowfall. The roads were pretty bad, and people had to shovel and brush off their cars every hour or two to go anywhere. I personally hate this weather, just because I much prefer hot and sunny summer days. But if you like the thrill of running out in the cold to get somewhere quickly, a constant wintery wonderland in the few months of the season, and the occasional random snow storms, Rochester is your place! Now, if you don’t like this stuff, don’t worry. This isn’t meant to scare you off! There’s always a way around it. And besides, it isn’t an EVERYDAY thing. Of course, snow is good every once in a while. Some of us just like it more than others! When you hear about Rochester experiencing all four seasons, that isn’t a joke or exaggeration. This is just Rochester’s winter phase!
