Note: This isn’t the first blog I’ve ever written for Rochester, but it is now appropriate that I reintroduce myself, as there have been some changes since my last writing, so let’s start at the beginning.
Hello! My name is Christopher Bierasinski. I am the Midwest Regional Representative for the University of Rochester. As the Midwest Regional Representative, I am responsible for students from Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska, and Iowa. I also review applications for students from Central and Eastern Europe (more on that later). Not only do I review the applications for students applying from the Midwest, I also live in the Midwest. I’m based in Chicago so that I can easily meet with students, visit high schools, conduct interviews, etc. I haven’t been in Chicago very long, but I’m already finding it to be a very interesting city, and one that I’m going to enjoy living and working in.
Not only do I work for Rochester, but I also graduated from Rochester in 2010. I graduated with a degree in Russian language and literature. My clusters were in brain and cognitive science and political science. As a student, I was active with a few different organizations including Sigma Nu Fraternity, the Campus Times, the men’s track and field team, as a Meridian (campus tour guide), and as an orientation leader. I’m happy to answer questions about extracurricular activities and student life on campus. My sister also graduated from Rochester in 2013. She studied mechanical engineering and minored in German. She was a part of the GEAR (Graduate Engineering at Rochester) program at Rochester and is now pursuing her master's degree at Rochester.
Throughout the admissions process, I can serve as the first point of contact for high school students, parents, counselors, or anyone interested in learning more about the University of Rochester in the Midwest. Since I’m located in Chicago, I’m happy to meet folks from around the area who would be interested in learning more about Rochester.
My blogs will mostly be about the admissions process, admissions travel, admissions activities in Chicago, and sometimes about the extracurricular activities I was involved in. Then again, there will probably be other things I write about! I intend to write a few posts each month, so stay a while and listen!
