Darien Lake!

For my last day of school, our senior class all took a trip to Darien Lake. Ever hear of it? Around Rochester it is very popular. It is a huge amusement park and water park. Also, lots of concerts and events happen there all summer long. Warped Tour comes in the summer, and many famous singers come to give concerts, like Paramore, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift, and upcoming is Miranda Cosgrove. It is not that far away either, and it is always worth it to go. There are tons of rides, food, and activities to do there. Around every corner is another game to play to win a big prize or some type of food stand or building. I personally think the food is great, especially when there are Dippin’ Dots all over the park!

The day we went for our trip was extra awesome because, since it was still a school day and during the day, it was not that busy at all! Lines that usually take an hour or more we walked through and instantly got on the ride. I rode the Ride of Steel (AKA “the Superman”) five times, and usually I can barely get on it once! By the way, the Superman is the best ride the park has. It is the tallest, fastest, and scariest ride. However, once you get over your fear and go on it, you will want to do it again and again. I forced two of my friends to go on it who were deathly afraid of roller coasters, and in the end (after their death grips on the bar and lots of screaming), they loved it and went on again! This ride causes anyone to fall in love with roller coasters.

Darien Lake has roller coasters that go backward, upside down, super fast, and even where your feet dangle. They also have rides that are not coasters, but equally as fun. For example, I love the Twister, where you sit and are strapped in by a lot of bars and such and you literally go in a Ferris Wheel shaped circle and get spun around and tossed. Some can’t handle the movement, but it is really cool either way. So we went on a sunny, comfortable day, and it gave me yet another great memory for my senior year.

I am not sure how next year’s spring weather will treat Rochester, but if anyone from the University of Rochester is still in town when Darien Lake opens, it would be a great investment to go. It is unforgettable and always fun, especially when you go with a bunch of friends. I guarantee you will leave with funny stories and memories to share the rest of your life. Even if you take a small road trip, or if you already live close enough to Rochester to drive there, it would be worth it!
