Congratulations, Class of 2016!!

The news is all over Facebook and Admissions about the new accepted students to the University of Rochester! I would like to say congrats to everyone. It is not an easy feat to get into this school; the fact that you were chosen means something, and everyone should be proud.

I remember when I got my letter on December 15, 2010. I was so ecstatic. I was Early Decision, so I found out way earlier than most, but I knew I was meant to go here from the start. I have already posted and commented in the Class of 2016 Facebook group page, but if you haven't joined yet, you should ASAP! There is also a Class of 2015 page, which I used last year to ask current students questions, get advice, and in general just meet new people! It is a really good idea and useful. I was so happy that so many people were ready and willing to help and answer questions. I want to return the favor by being that person for new students. Whether you are totally sure or still thinking about where you are going to go to college, feel free to ask me any questions and I will be happy to answer them or point you in the right direction to get them answered.

This is a huge turning point in your lives, so take your time, relax, and think hard about it. Also, don't stress too much about things far down the road. Not quite yet, anyway. I remember my senior year being full of APs and extracurriculars, and the stress of thinking about college and getting everything done could get in the way sometimes. The people who work here are amazing, and they are very good at what they do. Everything will work out. For now, just think what about college you are looking for, and feel free to inquire about that. Make your decision first, then worry about getting everything settled. That is my advice that I wish I had. As much as I wanted senior year to fly by and get to college, I still enjoyed what time I had left with my friends and the easiness of high school we all say we experience. But I constantly was thinking about housing and meal plans and URos and Orientation . . . when I didn't need to. Don't forget to live your life!

So again, congrats everyone! If you wish to contact me with questions about anything, feel free to message me on Facebook. Being a highly involved freshman, I have a pretty good idea about this University. I also am from Rochester, so I can answer questions about the city itself. Also, if you have questions that you don't feel comfortable asking staff and faculty, I'm here for that as well. Good luck to everyone!
