As president of Order of Omega, the campus Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Honors Society, I had the distinct privilege of facilitating and organizing this year’s application process, one of the most competitive of any on our college campus. Order of Omega is an Honors Society that recognizes student leaders within the Fraternity and Sorority Affairs community. These leaders are not only leaders within their own organizations, but on campus as well. They’ve shown their commitment to better our campus while maintaining strong academic standing.
Leading Order of Omega has been such a unique experience because I get the opportunity to direct some of the finest leaders on the University of Rochester campus. I also got to organize this year’s Greek-or-Treat event, during which we bring in students from local public schools and allow them to trick-or-treat on our University Fraternity Quad. Members of the fraternity and sorority community organize various games for students in the Greek houses on the Fraternity Quad and also give out candy at each house.
While all members of the community are welcome to attend, the bulk of the planning of the event is done by Order of Omega. We also try to attend the events of other organizations on our campus to show our support for programs, especially when they unite students from both inside and outside the Fraternity and Sorority community at the University of Rochester.
Order of Omega serves as a strong testament to all the hard work our students do to maintain ROchester as a top private university. Our campus diversity continues to push us forward, and our open curriculum drives students’ imagination. Order of Omega and its members stand as a strong example of all of these!
