About Me

My name is Joe Latimer, and I am the Assistant Dean of Diversity and Outreach here at the University. I currently have twenty-two years of college admissions experience, spanning a midsized public university in southeastern Massachusetts, a private university with a cooperative education program in Boston, a small liberal arts college in central New York, and now a national research university with a liberal arts curriculum. My time in admissions has been spent traveling the United States, US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, speaking with eleventh and twelfth graders about opportunities on the college campuses where I have worked. I also do this on campus when students and families visit. Lately, I have had an interest in speaking to a younger crowd of students and their families. My blog attempts to share with my readers my experiences as an admissions counselor.
