Are You Ready for Next Summer?

We are!

The University of Rochester Pre-College Programs has launched its listing of classes for the summer of 2013.

Following is a brief overview of our exciting offerings:

Rochester Scholars are non-credit classes for rising 9-12 grade students and are offered for one-, two-, and three-week sessions. Courses are reflective of areas of study available at the University and are held on the River Campus and at the Medical Center.

Eastman School of Music and River Campus Summer Connection is a collaborative program that allows students to explore their academic interests and musical talents by attending a Rochester Scholars class on the River Campus and a music class at the Eastman Campus.

Intensive English Course is a three-week course that provides rigorous and relevant classroom instruction in English language skills and American culture and history. Students will also have the opportunity to enroll in an afternoon Rochester Scholars course in an academic area of interest.

• Taste of College is a credit-bearing four-week and six-week program open to juniors and seniors who are looking to get a jump-start on their college career. This program allows motivated students to explore subjects that are typically reserved for study at a collegiate level.

Hajim Engineering Pre-College Program integrates the unique independence of the Rochester curriculum with research, invention, and problem-solving skills. This three-week, full day program allows students to study Biomedical Engineering, Optics, and Audio and Music Engineering, using the resources of one of the nation’s top engineering schools.

Mini Medical School is a selective three-week, full day program open to academically gifted juniors and seniors who have an interest in pursuing careers as physicians. The program offers research opportunities, rotations, and service learning at local clinics. Students will have hands-on medical experience and get a taste of the medical school experience.

Malawi Immersion Summer Seminar is not a typical high school summer program to Africa! This two-and-a-half-week study-abroad program offers rising and current high school juniors and seniors the unique and transformative opportunity to explore, research, and experience life in the southern African country of Malawi. The seminar provides a rare opportunity for high school students to complete university-level field research on a topic of their interest.
