Our New Lives

So now after several weeks of classes, most of us freshmen are finally getting into the groove of our schedules. We know where to go for classes, where to go to eat the best food at the best times, and some of us even have our sleep schedules down. No one was kidding when they said college is going to be a huge adjustment. For me, it is a great adjustment though. I am loving this new life and I know I can definitely get used to it.

Life here at the University of Rochester is all of exciting, challenging, and busy. The University has so much opportunity both academically and activity-wise, it is almost impossible not to get involved. Between all of the music ensembles I am in, clubs, and classes I am enrolled in, I find myself out and about most of every day. It isn’t bad though! I enjoy everything, and I know others do as well; I have hallmates who are in Indulgence, Bhangra, and other ensembles. No matter who you meet, there is something unique and super awesome about them. I never get sick of meeting new people, and I try to often. You never know who you will click with and who could be one of your new best friends.

No one said college was going to be easy, and rightfully so. We are all having tons of fun, but I always see people studying, discussing school work, and some of us have already had exams. It is a fast-paced academic career here, but it is worth it. We all enjoy learning. Other than the stressing about maintaining high grades, classes are so fun and interesting. Most of us got to choose what classes we wanted to take, so we knew going into the class that we would find it interesting. The first week of school, some students even went to classes they didn’t even sign up for, to see if they would like it, then either signed up for it or chose not to before the deadline. This University just offers so much for its students; it is impossible not to love it here!

These are only the first couple months of college, and there is this much to love. I can’t wait to see how the rest of this semester will turn out!
