This is a photo of my friend and teammate, Bridget, and me on top of Rush Rhees library. Every year, the librarians organize a scavenger hunt in the book stacks. Upon completion of the hunt, you are given a “ticket” to ride the elevator up to the clock tower at the top of the library. The view of campus is stunning from up there. In the photo, you can see Fauver stadium in the background.
The top of Rush Rhees has a circular balcony so you can see all of campus, the medical center, and the city of Rochester from up there. It’s a great reminder of how beautiful our campus is and of all that the city of Rochester has to offer. We often venture off campus for lunch or dinner, to see a movie, or to do some shopping. I have also recently attended a show at the Rochester Auditorium theatre. Many concerts and musical productions tour through the city of Rochester. Sometimes, the University of Rochester sponsors buses to these events and other off-campus venues. There are usually discounted tickets available for students! There is plenty to do during the week and on the weekends when I stay on campus, but I love knowing that I can explore the city of Rochester with such ease.
FIVE things you must do OFF CAMPUS:
1. Go to the Rochester Public Market and have a breakfast sandwich.
2. Have lunch at Magnolia’s Café and have the tomato artichoke soup.
3. Attend a concert at the Waterstreet Music Hall.
4. Take salsa lessons and have tapas at TAPAS 177.
5. Attend a WNY Flash Women’s soccer game.
