Here at UR, our Men's Soccer team plays in the University Athletic Association (UAA). Not to brag, but this is debatably one of the hardest conferences in all of DIII Soccer. This year is no different. The conference includes colleges in the Northeast and Midwest. The conference is made up of Brandeis, New York University, Case Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon, Washington in St. Louis, University of Chicago, Emory, and Rochester. Some call this the "Ivy League of DIII Soccer" because it is made up of some of the best private universities in America.
However, the teams in this conference are not just smart, but they're also really talented. Four teams are ranked in the top 25 currently, 3 of which are in the top 10, while another team received votes. The combined record of the 7 teams is 48-14-5. All teams but one have a winning record heading into UAA play.
Here at Rochester we are heading into the UAA on our front foot with a 4-1 win over Lycoming college and a 2-0 win against St. John Fisher, both wins coming on the road. We will start our UAA campaign against #10 ranked Brandeis at home followed by games against #6 NYU and #4 Carnegie Mellon. Playing such strong opponents gives us a great opportunity to get some signature wins that will really help us when it comes to selection for the NCAA tournament.
This will definitely be a hard-fought conference season, but hopefully we can come out on top.
