Since I don't have any AM classes this semester, I like to start the morning by practicing my choreography. Sometimes, I just sleep in too.
Other days when I feel lazy, I bake!
I love it when the warm and delicious heat spreads throughout my face as soon as I open the oven. It's kind of like a baking facial.
Baking has been my hobby since high school, but after I came to college I couldn't keep up with it, mostly because I didn't have time or the right kitchenware.
Luckily this semester I have the entire morning to myself, and I moved to an off-campus house with a fully equipped kitchen!
I get most of my recipes from the food channel because it's the only channel I watch while I'm on the bike at the gym.
(I know. . . . Don't judge.)
But I always tweak the recipes and use healthy ingredients, such as whole wheat flour and honey instead of refined flour and sugar.
Here is my favorite recipe!
I usually make this when I forget to eat my bananas and they start to get freckles. I snack on these between classes when I don't have time to grab a meal.
Banana Energy Bar:
Ingredients:
2 very ripe bananas1/3 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup whole wheat flour1 1/4 cup hot cereal (like Quaker) or quick-cooking oats
1 large egg (or I used two egg whites)
1/2 teaspoon salt
(Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.)
1. Mash the bananas.
2. Mix in the wet ingredients with the bananas.
3. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
4. Mix the wet ingredients and dry ingredients together.
5. Pour the mixture into an 8-inch square baking pan (greased), or you can use a loaf pan too.
6. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until crust starts to turn golden-brown.
By the way, you can also add in some cinnamon, 1/4 cup chopped pecans, or a scoop of protein powder. Be creative! I like to drizzle mine with maple syrup sometimes.
ENJOY!
