Hello, everyone!
My name is Brian and I am currently a sophomore this 2012-2013 academic year. I have declared my major in molecular genetics, a BS in the biological sciences, and am minoring in music and possibly psychology, all while following the pre-med track. I have worked as an admissions blogger since halfway through my senior year in high school and have loved every minute of it!
I am from Greece, but not the country (sadly). It is the largest suburban town of Rochester by Lake Ontario. It did not take long for me to travel here. I applied Early Decision since this University is my dream school from childhood, and I consider myself extremely lucky to be here!
In high school, I was a part of our a cappella group, Jukevox, and took leads in musicals and was in select shoir. Here, I have been in Men's Glee Club, Chamber Singers, and have been taking lessons at Eastman since my first semester. Music is a huge part of my life, so having Eastman a bus ride away is an amazing bonus of being a student here.
I am a brother of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Our chapter, Delta Chi, was founded here on campus back in 1984. I was not planning on joining a fraternity when I arrived as a first semester freshman, but after I got to explore what the fraternities were about and saw how they really do not follow the stereotypes people are led to believe about them, I decided to rush. I am so glad I did. I love my brothers and my fraternity and am so lucky to be a part of Greek Life at the University of Rochester.
I am a student supervisor at Connections (A café similar to Starbucks) on campus on top of my job with admissions, and I also have a lab research job. The opportunity to do research as an undergraduate is one aspect of the University that really drew me in. I am only 19 and a sophomore yet I can say I am part of a research team who is making breakthroughs in drugs and medicine. It is amazing!
I definitely am a busy student here at the University of Rochester, but because of the opportunities of the place, I can do it all and make the best of my time here! I hope that this description of myself relates to something of my readers' interests and I hope that if you are looking into this school and have questions you don't hesitate to ask me anything!
