Hello, students and parents. I am Ursula Balent, program manager for the Pre-College Programs. I’m a Rochester native and currently live in Hilton, NY, along beautiful Lake Ontario.
I have been at the University of Rochester since 1998, starting at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics as a graphic artist. In 2008, I moved to the River Campus to work with the Rochester Scholars and Taste of College programs. These programs are designed for high school students in grades 9-12 and have been offered by the University for over 20 years. As the mother of two teenage boys, I am excited to work in an area dedicated to younger students.
Since 2010, we have developed three new programs: the Malawi Immersion Summer Seminar, Mini Medical School, and the Eastman School of Music’s Summer Connection. I look forward to sharing student stories about these and other pre-college offerings. You will hear from faculty, students, and staff directly involved with Pre-College Programs.
